President John Dramani Mahama has showed appreciation to NDC members across the country endorsing his candidature as the flagbearer of the NDC come 2016 presidential election.

In a nationwide parliamentary and presidential primaries held – President Mahama had a total of 1,199,118 NDC members affirming his candidature – that represented 95.1 percent.

The president however on Monday took to Facebook to thank all party supports who still believes in him as a competent leader.

“My brothers and sisters, I feel deeply honoured for being endorsed by you as your Presidential Candidate for the 2016 elections. You lift me up, you give me strength! I thank you for the confidence reposed in me,” he said. 

Adding that – “I thank you all for showing that we are the bastion of free democratic expression in Ghana. As President and Candidate, I will do everything in my power to focus on the needs of the Ghanaian people. It is my duty to leave a lasting legacy for our party.

“…Transforming any nation is not easy and it does not occur with the stroke of a pen. It takes persuasion, attitudinal change, reorientation, and the right policies and leadership. NDC is offering that leadership.

“…I thank you all for the courage with which you have accompanied me on this mission. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you. You inspire me, Ghanaians inspire me!”

By this endorsement, President Mahama will again face NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in a keenly presidential election come 2016.
