�NO� Votes For Mahama Deliberate - Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams is of a firm belief that the votes against President John Dramani Mahama were deliberate and not error on the part of voters as some party members are claiming.

Kofi Adams says a lot of factors go into elections and he is therefore not surprised at the number of people who voted NDC faithful who voted against President John Mahama's bid to win the governing party's presidential ticket.

The NDC organiser claims the names of some opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) members were also found on the internally compiled register, and these persons probably voted against the President.

President Mahama secured 1,199 118 ‘YES’ votes representing 95.10 percent from party members in the presidential primaries held on Saturday and Sunday.

The President went into the contest unopposed but had to be endorsed per the rules of the party.

Out of a total of 1,286 728 party members who cast their votes, 61,836 voted ‘NO’ to President Mahama’s candidature in 265 out of 275 constituencies. The NO votes represented 4.90 percent of a total 1, 260 954 valid votes cast.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday, Kofi Adams noted that his party members need more education on rejected ballots.

“A rejected ballot in the just ended primaries is not a good thing and so there is need for us to educate our members more on that in the next elections” he said.

Nonetheless, the party he said is very satisfied with the outcome of the primaries.
