A fake doctor who conducted an illegal abortion on an 18-year-old student leading to her death is in the grips of the Anyinam police. The Anyinam District Police Commander, Rev. John Opoku, told Public Agenda that, the police was informed about the death of a young lady at �Adom Wo Wim� clinic owned by �Dr Duku Attuah at Asunafuo in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region. He said the police rushed to the clinic to find the lifeless body of Ernestina with foam coming out of the mouth and blood from her private part. At the scene, the police were informed that the victim went to the clinic from Kwahu Tafo with a friend for an abortion and gave the friend�s name as only Mabel who is now on the run. Dr Attuah told the police that the incident occurred on August 23 this year at about 11.00am but he did not report to the police till the next day August 24, at about 6.00pm. According to the fake doctor, as soon as the victim gave up the ghost, her friend, Mabel, vanished from the clinic and has since not been seen. He said the two friends told him they were directed by someone from Kwahu Tafo to see him to assist the victim to abort a pregnancy. He claimed to have worked at a certain hospital before going on retirement but could not mention the said hospital. He however, produced a testimonial bearing name of Ghana Naturopathic Medial Council, Claiming that he studied for two years after which he had acquired knowledge to cure some diseases. The body of Ernestina had been deposited at the Akyem Tafo government hospital for post-mortem to be carried out. Meanwhile, Dr Attuah has since appeared in court at Anyinam on a provisional charge of murder and has been remanded into prison custody to appear at a later date.
