Farmer Calls On Police To Arrest NDC ManFor Destroying His Cocoa Farm

Opaning Kweku Manu, a farmer at   Dadieso in the Amenfi East District of the Western region has called for the arrest of one Eric Coffie Rivers, a known NDC financier in the area for illegally entering into his farmland to engage in illegal mining without authorization.

He accused Mr Rivers of failing to cover the huge mine pits he dug on his land just close to the banks of River Ankobra, threatening the lives of his family and Farm hands who work in the area.

Opaning Manu has therefore requested the president John Mahama to order the arrest of Eric Rivers who has made efforts to end Galamsey activities in the area difficult.

Eric Rivers a known galamsey operator and owner of Rivers FM in Wassa  is described as the president of artisan gold miners in  the region, and the one who transport mass number of  Chinese immigrants  to the area to undertake illegal mining activities on farmlands.

The Rivers Mining company is notorious for destroying several farmlands in the areas and dug several bunkers in the area close to the Ankobra River.  The company is said to have contributed immensely to the destruction of the Ankobrah River which serves as a source of drinking water for the people in the area.

In an interview with the New Crusading Guide during a visit, Opaning Kwaku Manu, said some Chinese migrants invaded his farmland sometime last years and destroyed his cocoa farm and dug many large pits , he realized that it was Eric who assigned them and when approached him, Eric Riverson  confirmed the act and promised to fill  all of them but has reneged on his promise.

When the New Crusading Guide Visited the Residence of Mr Rivers at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region this journalist he confirmed his involvement in the act and promised to fill all the pits. Interestingly, he subsequently denied his involvement but promised to contact the Afransie Hene, who he alleged, was involved to rather fill the large pits.
