Police to take steps to reduce accidents in Dormaa District

The Police in Dormaa Municipality will embark on enforce road traffic regulations from September 7 to reduce accidents in the two Dormaa districts. Deputy Superintendent of Police James Arthur, Municipal Police Commander, told the GNA in an interview that this was prompted by an accident at Wamfie recently in which six people died. He said as part of measures to curtail human error in driving, no parking zones would be created in perceived accident prone areas in the towns of the two districts whilst the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit would inspect documents of drivers and their vehicles. By this rule we require that drivers and all other road users comply with the highway code in order to stay clear of rigours of traffic-related penalties, Mr Arthur said. He appealed to passengers to avoid acts that had the potential to distract the concentration of drivers during journeys. The nations greatest assets are its people and there is the need to protect human beings by avoiding man-made errors which sometimes lead to loss of several lives in an accident, he said.
