Dr Lawrence Tetteh, a renowned Ghanaian Evangelist and a football enthusiast on Monday urged Ghanaians to use the qualification of the Black Stars to the World Cup tournament as a stepping stone to forge national unity. Dr Tetteh made the request in a congratulatory message to the Black Stars from his UK base through the GNA Sports after they defeated the Desert Hawks of Sudan 2-0 at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Sunday to be the first African country to book a place in the South Africa 2010 World Cup. �The victory of the Black Stars should bind the nation together in order for Ghana to flourish,� adding that it is only through unity that the country can lift high the banner of success. �I also wish to congratulate the Black Stars for their team work and the discipline with which they handled the match, which made Ghana proud.� Dr Tetteh said his personal joy was that Ghana had always been the fore bearer of Africa and that it was only fair that the Black Stars are the first country on the continent to qualify for the tournament. He said the victory of the Black Stars was an indication of good sportsmanship and the strength of the current team. Dr Tetteh said he knew some of the players personally and could bear testimony of their dedication of ensuring the lifting of the Cup in South Africa. �I urge the government and the entire Ghanaian community to rally behind the team to achieve the feat.� Dr Tetteh advised the playing body not to allow complacency to undermine their purpose since they have more hurdles ahead of them to surmount but with dedicated service he was optimistic that they can get the ultimate. �I wish the players good strength and health. They should let unity be their primary focus,� he stressed.
