Deputy Minister of Power, John Jinapor has said electricity tariff must to increased to solve the 'dumsor' canker that has rocked the nation for about four years. Speaking on Peace FM's 'krokrokoo' programme Friday, he said the energy issues would come to an end as far as the nation is concerned if Ghanaians admit to the fact that electricity tariffs must increased. According to him Ghanaians must be assured that as soon the Power barge arrives it would start working because series of tests have been run already including where the machine would be based at. �Everything not just the fuel, the cost of generation, the cost of fuel will be borne by the end user and so all of us have to brace ourselves and ensure that we pay the right tariffs and when we talk about right tariffs we are not talking of milking people, we are not talking about exorbitant price but at least what is fair and what the PURC gives ought to be passed through,� the Minister explained. He cautioned that even though the power barge would be in Tema by Saturday, Ghanaians should bare in mind that, it is not going to solve the problem completely but to reduce it. The machine which would give Ghana 225 mega-watt of power, could cost the nation about 7 million Ghana cedis of oil per week to generate power.
