Fire destroys CAC International Mission house at Beposo

Fire destroyed the six-bedroom Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) International Mission House at Beposo resulting in the loss of personal belongings worth thousands of New Ghana Cedis in the early hours of Sunday. The cause of the fire is not immediately known, but an eye witness attributed it to a suspected electrical fault. Speaking to the GNA, The Rev. Samuel Osei of the CAC said at about 02.00 hours, he heard an unusual noise in his bedroom and when he woke up, he saw that the room was engulfed with smoke. He said, he quickly broke the louver blades in the room and got two of his little children through the window whilst his wife managed to escape with one of their children through the door. He said the entire personal belongings of the family, a cash of GHc600, his certificates, and some property belonging to the church, including musical instruments and vital documents were all burnt to ashes. An eye witness in a nearby house said they detected smoke in the mission house early Sunday and raised an alarm which attracted people from the neighbourhood. He said even though the Ghana National Fire Service personnel at Mampong responded to a telephone call and came with their fire tender, there was nothing they could do as they arrived late and did not have enough water. The Rev. Samuel Osei is on transfer to Suhum after fouryear duty tour at Beposo and was to have his send off thank giving service next Sunday, September 13, when the incident occurred Meanwhile, the Rev. Minister and his family are being temporally housed by church members.
