Avram Grant Disturbed With Babas Bench Role At Chelsea

The Black Stars coach has admitted his frustration seeing the Blues defender not enjoying enough playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Ghana coach Avram Grant has revealed that he is unhappy with the constant bench role of defender Abdul Baba Rahman at Chelsea.

The 21-year-old joined the Blues from German side FC Augsburg in a £21 million deal in August but has played only seven games in all competitions this season.

“Baba Rahman until now was playing well when he joined Chelsea,” Grant said in Accra.

“But you have to understand that he is young and this is his first year in the Premier League. It is not easy to play in the Premier League and I see that he has played some games but I don’t know what is happening there.

“I'm not happy about this situation but you have to know it is not easy for him,” he added.

Baba must shrug off competitions from Caesar Azpilicueta and Kennedy to command a starting role in Jose Mourinho's team.

A section of Ghanaians complained about Baba's performance against Comoros in the second leg of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers last month, insisting that his form has seen a dramatic dip.

Baba played 2669 minutes last season in the German Bundesliga but has only enjoyed 163 minutes in the English Premier League this season.
