Mahamas Govt Effort In Alleviating Hardship Is Getting Worse Every Day - NPP MP

In an endorsement of the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Obuasi West Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng has concluded there is no hope in the 2016 budget for Ghanaians.

The running mate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday December 2, 2015, presented his party's response to the ruling government’s 2016 budget statement.

Speaking from the party’s Headquarters in Accra, Dr Bawumia in a response titled “The NPP’s response to the 2016 budget statement, the seven-year record of the NDC and the alternative vision under an NPP government”, compared the economy under the previous NPP government and the current NDC administration.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana touched on corruption, agriculture hitting rock bottom and also assigned reasons why the current administration has failed to competently manage the economy.

But buttressing the points Dr. Bawumia highlighted on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng said corruption and incompetence of Mahama government have worsened the hardship in the country.

“The hardship is getting worse by the day and when you compare to the government effort, it is not encouraging. We gave out money to Tsikata and his wife which could have been used to buy crude oil to power our plants for regular power supply,” he chided.

The NPP MP maintained that there have been several activities of the Mahama’s administration which have contributed to the hardship instead of alleviating it; thus, the fake tree planting and genuine fowl rearing in the Northern region and the wasteful payment of judgment debts are a contributing factor to the hardship in the country.

“So there is no money to do what is necessary in this country; inflicting unbearable hardships on Ghanaians. It is through this bad economic management which is why IMF will rationalize the size of workers of Ghana,” he stressed.

He emphasized that though Parliament grants budget for the government to use, the Minority in Parliament has little or no control over how the budget is being used especially when the NDC in the majority passes bills with their numbers.
