Israeli Agro-Technology - A Transformational Tool For Ghanas Agric Sector

The Agriculture sector in Ghana could soon benefit from the vast Israeli Agro-technology to help transform the industry. This came to light at the Agro-Technology Breakfast Dialogue organised by the embassy of Israel in Accra on Wednesday.

The dialogue sought to explore the possibility of combining relevant Israeli technology with the immense potential of agriculture in Ghana to transform commercial agriculture in the country.

Held under the theme “Transforming Ghanaian Agriculture - Possibilities for the Adoption of Israeli Technology", the dialogue had participants including major Business Advisory Service Providers and Consultants representing the brain behind many new Agro-ventures in the country. The MASHAV expert, Mr. Galy Shai, an Israeli agronomist with close to 60 years of practical experience was the main resource person for the dialogue. He took time to explain how Israel has been able to transform her agric sector through technology.

“Ghana has a huge potential in Agriculture, what is left is the technology needed to help one farmer to be able to feed a thousand people instead of ten”.  Said Mr. Shai who has spent a week in Wa teaching farmers how to plant and get good yields during the dry season.
