NUGS Celebrates Farmers

The history of the movement of the Students of Ghana is interwoven with the struggles and progress of our farmers since the founding of this Great Republic, Ghana.

Indeed, the first sets of students who pioneered Ghana's student revolution were recorded to be children of Fisher folks and mostly, farmers who put in the best in farming to support their wards after government did its part.

History will again remember that when there was need for labour to carry cocoa from the hinterlands in the 80's it was students who offered their backs to support our farmers and our parents and this country.

On the occasion of Farmers' Day, mindful of the where farming has been in the past and the progress this nation has made, but still conscious of the need for accelerated development not just in farming, but Agriculture in general, NUGS would like to use this momentous occasion to wish our farmers felicitation.

The National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS , would also like to use the opportunity to state that government must protect the interest of Ghanaian farmers against corporate foreign powers, provide an improved environment for farmers to sell their products and also give our farmers the needed support in terms of adequate mechanized farming tools.

We the students of Ghana are proud of our farmers and we celebrate them wholeheartedly.
Thank you.
