119 Workers Sacked At TOR

News filtering into the offices of the Crusading Guide as at press time yesterday indicates that about one hundred and nineteen workers (119) have been sacked from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) following the shortage of crude oil at the refinery. This Morning twenty two of us at the Civil Department were sent home because management says theres no work for us to do, Kofi Polo (not his real name) a dismissed worker confirmed to the Crusading Guide. According to workers who spoke to newsmen on conditions of strict anonymity, management announced to casual workers at TOR that because of the shortage of crude at the refinery, management would not renew their contracts if it expired. The Board Members of the refinery meet at least three to four times in a month and at each sitting, they each take five hundred and fifty so calculate it for the year yet they tell us theres no money to pay us and that we should go home. But the Public Relation Office at TOR, Mrs. Aba Lokko said that the refinery engaged the service of some casual workers as and when they needed them so when their contracts end we abrogate it so its the casual workers who have ended their contract. It has nothing to do with any of the permanent workers.
