Gomoa Ajumako celebrates first-ever Akwambo Kese Festival

Dr Kwabena Donkor, Minister of Power, on Saturday, joined the chiefs and people of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, to celebrate their first-ever Akwambo Kese Festival at Ajumako.

The Minister represented the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama at the celebration which was under the theme: “Cultural and Education : Key to National Development .

The Celebration occasion saw sub-chiefs, divisional chiefs, and the Omanhene of the area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah the Eleventh, being carried in a palanquin through the principal streets of Gomoa Ankamu to Gomoa Ajumako, a distance of about two and half miles.

Residents from all walks of life in the 49 towns and 27 villages under Gomoa Ajumako, witnessed the festival.

It was also attended by Dasebre Kwaabu Ewusi , President of Central Regional Houses of Chiefs, Mr Acquinas Tawiah Quansah, Central Regional Minister, District Chiefs Executives (DCEs) and Presiding Members of the various District Assemblies in the region.

Dr Donkoh stressed the importance of cultural values and the associate development every traditional area was expected to achieve.

The Minister said the time when graduates wanted jobs from the government was absolutely over, and there was the need for them to use their skills in a more profitable manner.

The Power Minister made a total donation of 7,000 Ghana Cedis, 5,000 from the President, and his personal donation of 2,000 to support the development efforts in the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.

The Regional Minister assured the chiefs and people of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area that government under President Mahama would provide all the social amenities to improve their standards of living.

He said the road from Gomoa Ankamu to Gomoa Afransi which had been awarded on contract would be completed next year .

The Regional Minister gave the assurance that education and other facilities would see massive improvement in the area.

Obrempong NYanful Krampah expressed concern about the formation of the Unemployed Graduates Association, and urged government to disband it.

He said the graduates are expected to use their skills and technical know-how to ensure soc Theio-economic advancement of the country .

The Omanhene said the Akwambo Kese Festival was mooted to bring together people under the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, and to explore avenues to attract investors both local and foreign, to promote the development of the Gomoa District.
