Motivational And Training Allowances Are Still Approved Fees Deputy Education Minister

The Deputy Minister for Education, Alex Kyeremeh has refuted allegations against the Ministry of taking off teachers’ motivational and training allowances.

He categorically stated in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show host, Kwesi Aboagye that, proposals which come from different areas and individuals, are received by the Ministry but it does not give an assurance of its implementation, because before the Ministry accepts a proposal, it has to go through a series of research and underground work which involve key personalities as far as education in this country is considered.

Alex Kyeremeh said, the work of the Ministry of Education (MOE) is to make policies of which after that the Ghana education service as an agency takes it up to make sure the policies made are implemented.

“The Ghana Education Service is responsible for employing teachers, and as such teachers should desist from the habit of blaming the Ministry of Education pertaining problems they face, but rather try to sit with the GES to redress issues they need clearance on to prevent any misunderstanding between their sectors and stakeholders,” he said.

He begged teachers not to use the media as a medium through which teachers and their stakeholders would seek proper understanding on issues worrying the sector, but rather go to the GES or MOE concerning any problem they face with issues concerning their job.

"...Over the years, I have come to realize as a former teacher that, a teacher is the number one person that needs to be taken into consideration, if education would be uplifted in a country. Also ignoring a teacher from his happiness, whiles putting infrastructure and all other equipments needed in place with respect to education would at all cost not achieve aims of better education."
