GTV in another no-show

The curse of Ghana Television struck again after they failed to deliver the live telecast of the Ghana-Japan friendly in Holland that they had so vigorously advertised. The state-owned broadcaster had advertised that they will telecast the game between Japan and Ghana, but by kick-off time at 10h00 GMT, they were serving highlights of the Ghana-Zambia friendly, and later the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Sudan without any apology to the many viewers who had been keen to watch. In the end, the entire nation was forced to follow the game which Ghana lost 3-4 in Utrecht on Peace FM who were running live radio commentary from the game. The local language station made the most of their presence in Holland and at some point mocked the state-owned broadcaster by suggesting television had failed to deliver again. Wednesdays no-show is bound to further erode confidence in the station after the disaster with the friendly against Zambia in London. They moved to make amends by showing a number of qualifiers from the continent live over the weekend and the qualifier against Sudan even though Metro TV had exclusive rights to the game. It took the intervention of government and GTVs muscle as the station with nation wide coverage to show the qualifier against Sudan but handed the chance to reclaim the initiative on Wednesday, they failed miserably again.
