Desailly and Moses to organize clinic for youngsters

Ghanaian-born France footballer, Marcel Desailly and United States Olympian, Edwin Moses will organize a football clinic for young footballers on Friday, September 11, 2009. The clinic sponsored by telecommunications outfit, Vodafone Ghana and slated for the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra is aimed at equipping the young footballers with some modern techniques of the game. It is also geared towards shaping the footballers, who are between the ages of 15 to 18 years towards a promising career. Gideon Sackitey, an Executive Officer of the Corporate Communications of Vodafone Ghana told GNA Sports that the clinic is being organized in collaboration with the Laureus World Sports Academy, chaired by Moses, a 400-metres gold winner at the 1976 and 1984 Olympic Games. He explained that the one-day event will provide an opportunity for the globally acclaimed Sportsmen to share moments with the youngsters, whom they serve as mentors. The event is expected to climax the three-day visit of the Laureus World Sports Academy team to the country. The 20 selected footballers are drawn from juvenile clubs from the various Districts of the Greater Accra Region. The Laureus World Sports Academy is a unique association of 45 of the greatest living sports legends drawn from disciplines such as football, tennis, athletics, rugby, baseball, skateboarding and motor racing. As part of the activities leading up to the football clinic, Vodafone organized a tour of a plush 4-bedroom Trasacco Valley house for the selected football. The house is the coveted prize for a raffle scheme dubbed �Vodafone Rewards� which is being organized by Vodafone the telecommunication giants. The winner of the raffle, which is open to mobile and fixed prepaid customers� will go home with the plush house, a Pajero 4x4 vehicle with a driver plus free broadband services for a stipulated 12-month period. Customers can register for the promotion by calling short code �1111� from either a prepaid mobile or fixed line and will be entered for draw whenever they charge their phones. The grand draw is slated for Friday, November 6. Other attractive prizes include Pajero 4x4 vehicles, Yamaha motorcycles, educational scholarships, laptops, branded ipods and phones.
