Military Ready To Protect Country�s integrity

The Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie, has assured Ghanaians of the military’s readiness to protect the integrity of the nation in next year’s election.

He said the professionalism and cohesion of the military would be put to test in the upcoming polls, saying “I am optimistic that as we have always played our role effectively in the past elections, we shall exhibit the same posture to keep the country safe during the elections.

Vice Admiral Quashie made the promise at the Armed Forces festival of nine lessons and carols at the Burma Camp in Accraon Friday.

He urged the military to eschew negative tendencies as they renewed their commitment to their profession, the pursuit of excellence, national cohesion, peace and stability.

Vice Admiral Quashie also asked them to do away with ignorance, misconduct and immorality.

He stressed that the reality of darkness was expressed in vices such as terrorism, wars, oppressions sexual immorality, fraudulent and corrupt conduct, domestic violence, greed and false religiosity.

Vice Admiral Quashie said “in the spirit of the season, let us walk in the light of Christ and uphold morality, loyalty, selfless devotion, vigilance and dedication to duty.”

He asked soldiers to be disciplined; reminding them that the military was founded on discipline.

The carol service, which was on the theme: “walking the light of Christ, the new born King,” was interspersed with music and performances from the Naval Choir, Army Choir, Air Force Choir, Sailors Echo and the Missions Generation International Choir.

The nine lessons were read from the books of Genesis, Isaiah, Luke and John, from the Bible.
