NOV/DEC: WAEC Withholds Results Of 970 Candidates

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has withheld the results of 970 candidates alleged to have been involved in examination malpractices pending the conclusions of investigations into the cases of malpractices.

The withheld results will be released as soon as the council concludes its investigations.

In a statement released by WAEC and signed by its Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, to announce the release of provisional results for the November/December examination results, the council assured members of the public that its results database is well secured.

As such, it stated that all forged results can be detected by its confirmation and verification system.

The council released provisional results of 143,116 candidates who took the November/December 2015 West African Examination.

Institutions and organisations are, therefore, advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the council or access the confirmation/verification service at the WAEC website.

The council used the opportunity to alert members of the public to be wary of the activities of fraudsters who contact candidates with the promise of bettering their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers, saying the sole aim of the swindlers is to make money from their victims by deceit.
