GIS Seizes 500 Cocoa Beans In 2015

A total of five hundred (500) bags of cocoa beans were seized from smugglers by the immigration officers of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in command positions across the country in 2015, Head of Public Affairs of GIS, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACOI,) Mr. Francis Palmdeti, has disclosed to Today.

Consequently, Mr. Palmedeti told Today that his outfit has also seized two hundred and fifty (250) jerry cans in the same year from smugglers at the various borders in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Today in Accra yesterday Mr. Palmdeti noted that despite inadequate logistics of GIS, they were able to intercept jerry cans and cocoa beans being smuggled by what persons he described as “nation wreckers.”

He, therefore, urged the public to be vigilant and help weed out criminals in industrial city to make businesses safe in the country.
