Partisan Politics Must Not Destroy The Country

The Central Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Reverend Samuel Eric Ampiaw has stated that over politicisation of national issues destroying the country’s economic and social development.

He said it is time the leaders of the political parties and their supporters desist from such acts.

Rev Ampiaw made this known when he addressed the 125th Anniversary Celebration of Agona Swedru District Bethel Congregation of PCG at Swedru, in the Central Region.

He noted that due to politics most Ghanaians have shirked their cooperate responsibilities.

He said a good policy taken by a party in power could be changed by another party who takes over because of over-politicisation of issues.

Rev Ampiaw said politics must be on issues and not personal attacks or rhetoric to disrupt or derail the development of the nation.

He appealed to politicians not to influence the youth with money to indulge in wrong-doing.

Rev Nana Osei Owusu Fosu, of the Bethel Presbyterian Church said the mission has embarked on income generating ventures such as sachets water production and establishment of Credit Union to support the congregation.

He said the church had also established compassion fund to assist needy but brilliant students of the church.
Rev Fosu said the church has constructed a two -storey building mission house to replace the old one which was destroyed in 2010 by the flood disaster.
