The Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, on the launching of the Centenary Celebrations of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has called on Ghanaians to bear in mind that many visitors, from far and near are expected in the country, and has therefore urged all to cooperate so that together, we will once again demonstrate our oneness. The Vice President added that as a nation of tolerance, Ghana is the epitome of democratic governance in Africa. Whilst we celebrate this occasion there is the need to let his life, works and all that Nkrumah stood for, inspire the leadership and people of Ghana and Africa, so that our people can be delivered from poverty, squalor, illiteracy and ignorance, he stressed. According to him, our ability as a nation to achieve this, would render Nkrumah, a peaceful rest in his grave. The Vice President, in his speech, also pointed out that, apart from being at the forefront of Ghanas independence and Africas liberation struggle, Dr. Kwame Nkrumahs achievements runs through the length and breadth of the country. As part of events for the day, Mr. Mahama broke the grounds for the renovation of the Nkrumah Memorial Park to begin.
