Soldier Arrested For Robbery

Lance Corporal Michael Quaicoe, a 24-year-old military officer from the Southern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, has been arrested together with another for robbery.

Lance Corporal Quaicoe, together with one Baffoe Archer, 24, while in military uniform, allegedly snatched a taxi from its owner at gunpoint at the Black Star Square on December 29, 2015 around 11pm.

The two suspects later took the vehicle to Adabraka near Circle and attempted to sell it to a prospective buyer when police had information of it and managed to apprehend them.

They are now in the custody of the police assisting in investigations.

Confirming the story to media personnel in Accra, the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said on Tuesday,   December 29, 2015, at about 11:00pm, Lance Corporal Quaicoe Michael, who was   dressed in military uniform, and his accomplice, Baffoe Archer, hired a taxicab with registration number GG 717-15 from Tudu to Castle, Osu.

On reaching the CEPS traffic light, the military officer requested to use the washroom and directed the taxi driver to park at the Black Star Square and wait while his accomplice was still seated in the car.

Lance Corporal Quaicoe, on his return, moved to the driver’s side and pointed a pistol at the taxi driver and ordered him to get out of the car.

With the help of suspect Archer, the two marched the driver to the washroom where they tied him up.

They mounted a search on him and collected an amount of Twenty Ghana Cedis and a mobile phone.

The driver was abandoned to his fate and his taxicab was taken away by the suspects.

The next day the two offered the said vehicle for sale at Adabraka, where they were arrested whilst attempting to sell it.
