Assembly Working To Ensure Development

Mr Sam Atukwei Quaye, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, has said the Assembly is undertaking effective measures to ensure the development of the municipality.

He said, to this end, the Works Department of the Assembly has restructured their activities to include routine and regular visits to areas with recent developments and spot/random checks on existing properties to ensure that every property whether completed or under construction was covered by the requisite development permits.

Mr Quaye made this known at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting in 2016 to take stock of its performance in 2015.

He said the Special Client Service Centre of the Assembly -to take care of applications for building permits, is to eliminate middlemen in the acquisition of permits and also prevent extortion of money from unsuspecting applicants.

Mr Quaye said the Assembly would begin a monthly meeting to handle applications in this year whilst information had been made available for potential applicants to know the permit acquisition process.

“Subsequently, a brochure on the process has also been developed to educate the public,” he said, adding that there has been improvement in the monitoring of projects in the municipality.
