Robert Owusu, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) man in Kumasi, will be hauled before court today (Monday) over loose talk on radio.
He alleged on Boss FM that the police support the ruling party’s diabolic idea of stockpiling machetes to attack their opponents during the 2016 elections.
Robert Owusu was apprehended and interrogated for hours by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Friday in connection with the case.
He was eventually granted police enquiry bail with a surety on Friday and is supposed to report at the regional police headquarters today.
ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko, Ashanti Regional Police PRO, said on Nhyira FM that Robert Owusu was cautioned for issuing a threat on radio.
The police chief said the NDC man would be visiting the police headquarters on Monday but did not state what would be his fate.
Checks by DAILY GUIDE however indicated that the police are convinced that Robert Owusu erred and should be put before court to face the law.
A panel of top policemen, made up of investigators, headed by Chief Supt Peter Baba, the Regional Crime Officer, quizzed Robert Owusu on Friday.
The tape on which Robert Owusu made that reckless remark was played and the NDC man admitted that indeed it was his voice, the paper gathered.
Robert Owusu was said to be looking remorseful, but the police cautioned him for the utterance which is a threat to security.
Other members of the police panel that investigated the NDC man included the Regional CID Station Officer, Chief Inspector Biritwum.
The rest are Chief Inspector Gordon Ahianyor, Deputy Police PRO, Sergeant Panin Yena, Investigator of the case, and the Deputy Regional Crime Officer.
