Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Minister of Roads and Highways, has said work on the falling rocks along the Aburi road would begin in February. 

He said a contract had been awarded to CST Limited, an engineering firm, to correct the situation that started last year.

Addressing the media after a visit to the site, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said work on the project would take seven months explaining that specially designed protective nets would be used to hold the rocks from falling unto the road.

Meanwhile one part of the road which is closer to the falling rock has been closed to traffic till work is completed.

Alhaji Fuseini said the contractor has already begun with feasibility studies and other assessments work on the project which would be completed in two weeks.

He called on the contractor to speedily work on the project part of which has been closed to traffic.

The Minister appealed to state institutions such as the Town and Country Planning Department to halt all construction and other developments taking place on the hills as it was one of the reasons leading to the falling of the rocks.

Mr Michael Abbey, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Highway Authority, said his outfit in collaboration with CST Limited had put in place the needed measures to ensure that all the equipment which would be needed for the construction work would arrive in the country by January 18 2016.
