Kwesi Pratt Predicts Ghana's Future

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has predicted a very gloomy future for Ghana.

According to the veteran journalist, he sees a very bleak future for Ghana following the gross mismanagement of the country’s resources by current leaders. “From the way things are going in Ghana now, I see a very bleak future for this country…in 20 years to come, no matter who is in power…we would never have pleasant things to serve the future generations…,” he said.

Kwesi Pratt made the prediction on Adom FM Thursday while commenting on the mismanagement of the Ghana School Feeding Programme by the Mahama administration.

He expressed shock at the collapse of the programme as according to him, it was one of the best policies introduced by the erstwhile John Kufuor administration. He could not comprehend why elites in the country were ‘unfortunately seeing to the collapse of every positive thing in the country.’

Kwesi Pratt who said it was better for the country to appoint persons into various positions based on their qualifications and strengths other than political affiliation, said that has contributed to the gradual collapse of various sectors of the country’s economy.
“In Ghana now, supporters of various political parties which win political powers look up to their leaders to be appointed to serve on boards of various corporations and that has been the norm…,” he said.

This, he said would not have been a problem if such persons are qualified for the positions for which they are appointed.

“You can’t believe it. What is shocking is that most of them are not even qualified and the qualified professionals are even silent because they fear to talk…and that is the problem of the school feeding programme…,” he added.

He called on politicians to see their service to the nation as a national one and put in their maximum best to help sustain the country ‘otherwise in the next 20 years, Ghana would be worse off.’
