Public Cautioned Against Violence

Vice Admiral Matthew Quarshie, former Chief of Defence Staff, has cautioned the public to shun illegal activities that would mar the peace and stability of the country in the November 7, presidential and parliamentary elections.

Vice Admiral Quarshie made the call when speaking at his pulling out ceremony at Burma Camp in Accra to mark his tenure of office with the Ghana Armed Forces.

He said the public should help the security agencies to keep the peace by not creating problems.

''If Ghanaians allow themselves to disintegrate through conflict they would not like what they see because some of us have been in conflict areas and what you see is not the best,” he said.

He said Ghanaians are all inter-related, adding: “We have sisters, children, so we should try very hard and stop fighting each other to the extent of killing ourselves.

''The civilian populace should learn to control themselves, they should learn to jaw jaw instead of war war", he added.
