Head porters, locally referred to as ‘Kayayei’ are rated among the less privileged people in the country, some are homeless and single parent – but that doesn’t deter them from raising funds for who they want to be president in the 2016 election.

The 'Kayayei' association, mostly women have voiced out their love for NPP’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo – as they have vowed to vote massively for him to win the upcoming election.

Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie, the president of the association, Hajia Adiza Zongo said her members believe the NPP led by its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo can change the socio-economic conditions in Ghana.

“The NPP is the only party who has we (the Kayayei) at heart. We believe in Nana Addo and the NPP. They have done it before and will do it again for us,” she noted. 

Adding that – “Life is unbearable under Mahama; everything has gone up but they chase us every day for tax. We are really suffering.”

Her comment follows a donation of Ghc 5, 000 [50Million old currency] made to the NPP by the head porters association in a fund raising event held at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Saturday.
