I Am No Stomach Politician - Nana Addo

The flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has stated that unlike many other politicians he was not into politics to enlarge the size of his stomach but to work for the betterment of the entire populace.

According to him, leader’s particularly political office holders are to demonstrate that they are concerned about the welfare of the people rather than to grab material things like gluttons.

Speaking at the recently held first ever public fundraising ceremony of the party’s Ashanti Regional branch at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium in Kumasi, the three-time flagbearer of the main opposition party noted that it is better to work for the people as leader than to work for one’s stomach.

“I am not into politics to enlarge the size of my stomach but to work for the betterment of the larger society and people,” Nana Addo stressed.

He noted, “occupying a political office is not to work for your own self, close allies or cronies but to better the lot and lives of the citizens.

He therefore pleaded with Ghanaians to have hope in him and vote for him in the upcoming elections in November so as to enable him demonstrate that leadership is a selfless act.

Recalling what the President of Cote D’lvoire, Alhasssan Ouattara had done in just five years as the leader of that nation, Nana Addo expressed that same could be done here in Ghana where the country’s resources could be used to develop it properly.

According to him, there are glaring and credible evidence of massive corruption in the Mahama government and as a result many citizens have been deprived of the improvement they needed in their lives.

The youth, the former Attorney General noted, have been hardest hit by the incompetence of the current administration as they wallow in despondency for lack of jobs and employment opportunities.

He, however, assured the youth that he would use the resources that would be entrusted in his hands as president to better their lives.

On his part, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia urged the youth to rally behind the NPP flag-bearer to effect the change the people so deserve.

According to him, a Nana Addo government would restore the teacher and nurses’ trainee allowance as well as improve the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme, (NHIS) and the School Feeding Porgram from its current imminent collapse.
