Prez Mahama Urged Not To Travel Ahead Of Tomorrows Demo

A Labour Consultant, Mr Boakye Yiadom Amponsah has urged President John Dramani Mahama to cancel his intended trip to Switzerland ahead of tomorrow’s workers demonstration.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Midday News Tuesday, the Labour expert explained that, if the President leaves the country, it could mean that he has taken the issue very lightly.

Mr Yiadom Boakye Amponsah also called on the government to endeavour to reconsider its stance with the Unionized Labour and resolve the issues amicably.

"....productivity hours to be lost on Wednesday cannot be quantified nor recovered," he stated.

The Labour Unions have described the hikes as insensitive to the plight of workers.

Over 10,000 workers are expected to hit the streets of Accra while, the rest of the nine regions holds theirs simultaneously. The labour organizations have appealed to their 500,000 workers to actively take part in the demonstration.

However, the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Brother Kofi Asamoah has urged politicians and political groups to stay away from the demonstration. He said, the issue is non political and he would not want it to be marred by the presence of politicians.
