Kotoko Explains Decision To Exclude Ahmed Toure From Squad

Management of Asante Kotoko has explained the reason behind their decision not to register striker Ahmed Toure for the upcoming season.

The Ivorian international was left out of the squad in a list of 29 players registered by the Porcupine Warriors for the new season on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old who returned to Kotoko has not been involved in the team’s preseason exercise with management his whereabouts unknown by officials of the Club.

His absence from the team’s camp eventually led to management with no option than to exclude him from the squad.

“Along the line he was away for national assignment, which was understandable. We didn’t hear from him again even after we formally wrote to him demanding answers to his unexplained absence” Accra Rep Edmund Ackah told Asantekotokosc.com.

“Toure neither reported for training nor did he respond to our letter. With the technical team proceeding with their work, we concluded that adding him to our registration list wasn’t going to serve the club’s interest” he added.

The player is reported to be seeking a move to an European country.

The striker was Kotoko’s top scorer in the League last season after netting 11 goals for the former Ghana Premier League Champions.
