CHAN 2016: Mali Send Zimbabwe Home With A 1-0 Victory

Mali registered their first win at the CHAN on Saturday at the Umuganda stadium in Rubavu with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe.

Ocean Mushure failed to execute an opportunity to put Zimbabwe in the lead with missed free-kick from 30 yards in the 19th minute.

Zimbabwe again had a decent chance to go ahead in the game but Edmore Chimdabare failed to slot in a ball after dribbling past Mali's right back Sekou Diarra 25 minutes into the game.

Sekou Koita came close for Mali with his in the 26th minute across the face of goal from close range.

First half ended barren since attackers of both nations were wasteful.

Zimbabwe skipper Hardlife Zvirekwi with a diagonal cross in the 52nd minute but Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra collected easily.

The Warriors of Zimbabwe had another golden chance to take the lead but William Madondo's poor first touch on the ball costs him and the team dearest in the 76th minute.

Moussa Sissoko scored 8 minutes from time to send Zimbabwe packing from the tournament.

Sissoko met a decent cross from left past a standstill Zimbabwe defence line to send home.

Sekou Koita flew high a free-kick from 30 yards in the 86 minute.

Mali top Group D with 4 points with Uganda and Zambia meeting later today at same venue.

Zimbabwe are automatically out of the tournament after losing two games in a row.
