Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni says the United States of America should fully disclose details of the latest threat assessment of the two ex-Guantanamo bay detainees currently in Ghana.

The resettlement of the two former terror suspects has angered the public, a sentiment heightened by revelations that a 2007 assessment by the US found at least one of the detainees to be of a high-security risk.

The US government has however dismissed that report insisting an updated assessment clears the two for resettlement.

Mohammed Mumuni who was also once a running mate to late President John Mills says it is important to have full disclosure regarding the updated assessment.

He says the uniqueness of Ghana’s relationship with US would have made it difficult for any government to turn down the request to resettle the two former terror suspects in the country.

Alhaji Mumuni dismissed assertions that hosting the two - Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby – could make Ghana a target for terrorists because the country has proven to be ally of US through the singular act of accepting the detainees.

There already is evidence publicly available about the fact that Ghana is an ally of US. No terrorist organisation therefore will need the presence of Bin Atef and Al-Dhuby to come to that conclusion, he argued.
