Parliament Locked Up In A Meeting With EC Boss

Members of the Subsidiary Legislative Committee of the Parliament of Ghana are currently locked up in a committee with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei and some other officials of the election regulatory body.

The two parties are previewing the Constitutional Instrument (C.I) for the conduct of the 2016 general elections.

Among the issues being looked at are the requirements for the registration of eligible voters among which include a passport, a voter’s registration identification guarantee form, a driver’s license and a national identification card.

The encounter is a pre-laying meeting with the stakeholders with the purpose of looking at the possible mistakes and oversight in the C.I. to enable members make their input before finally being laid at the plenary for consideration and adoption.

All the political parties are heavily represented in the meeting.
