CMS Fire:12 Officials Interdicted

A labourer, Samuel Dogbe, has been named as the one who deliberately set fire to the Central Medical Stores in January last year.

He is suspected to have been contracted by 12 officials at the stores to burn the place.

The motive was to destroy evidence of theft, fraud and irregularities in the allocation of medical suppliers.

The Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong and Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia, made this known at a press conference in Accra on Friday

The labourer is at large at the moment and the security officers are looking for him.

According to them, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) was tasked to investigate the theft; and to destroy the evidence, the 12 officials are suspected to have contracted the labourer to set the fire.

The 12 officials who have since been interdicted are to be processed for prosecution.

They have been named as: Peter Ekow Gyimah, Alhaji Yusif Imua, Iddrisu Abdul Karim, Gifty Esi Mankata, Zeboat Doh and Ibrahim Laryea Amartey.

The others are Kwame Foli, Mathias Senayah, Victoria Ennin, Abdul Karim, James Benjamin Annan and Peter Aciaba Addah

They are said to belong to a network.
