Paintsil confirms imminent departure from Maritzburg United

Ghana defender John Paintsil will leave South African Club Maritzburg United at the end of the season. The player has confirmed.

Paintsil has been deemed substandard at the ABSA Premier League side after two seasons with the Club.

The Ghanaian international whose deal expires at the end of the season will not have a contract extension by his employers.

Definitely I will be leaving the club because they have already told me that I’m not in the plans of the coach,” Paintsil tells KickOff.com.

“We as professional players need to understand that if the coach says you are not part of his plans I don’t think we should force yourself, because at the end of the day, I know I played my part and when we finished in the top eight for the first time,” He added.

The former Fulham defender joined Maritzburg from fellow South African Club Santos in 2013.
