The son of Ghana’s former President, Sekou Nkrumah has attributed the defeat suffered by her sister, Samia Yaaba Nkrumah in the flagbeareship contest of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to her ‘self-centred ambitions’ as a politician.

The daughter of Ghana’s first President was humiliated in the party’s flagbearer race when Ivor Kobina Greenstreet won more than 60% of valid votes cast to become the party’s flagbearer for the 2016 General Elections.

She has attributed her loss to the workings of ‘external forces’ in the race which according to her supplied money to her opponent, Ivor Greenstreet to engage in ‘vote buying’.

“I believe that majority of the vote buying came from external forces within Ghana and other political parties. It could have simply come from party members but it is most likely it will come from either NDC or NPP," she lamented on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Monday.

But Sekou thinks Samia 'self-seeking and self-centred ambition' in life which made her ‘jump into Ghana’s politics without taking her time to study the dynamics’ rather made her lose the constest.

According to him, instead of Samia after coming into the country in 2008 taking her time to study the dynamics, she was deceived by ‘certain opportunists’ into riding on the name of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to go into the game and that is accounting for her abysmal performance.

“She thought she could just come from nowhere and make the mark and I think she has to take her time and not ride on the name of Nkrumah…I think it is never too late…being Nkrumah’s son or daughter does not make you Nkrumah…she has to know who she is and her capabilities,” Sekou said.

Until Samia learns this, Sekou Nkrumah said she would she would continue to be deceived by persons he describes as ‘opportunists’.

Samia’s allegation that she lost due to ‘vote buying’ her brother said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme on Monday was not necessary arguing that her sister should have considered her allegations as an internal matter and not voiced it out in the public domain.

Sekou further added that since Samia as the chairperson of the CPP failed to make meaningful impact on the party, she has no reason to complain advising that she goes back and learns to lead once more.
