The death is announced of the vice president of the Republic of Cuba, Juan de Almeida. Comrade de Almeida was a revolutionary war hero of the Cuban people�s struggle for emancipation, freedom and self-determination and against Yanke Imperialism and its local hirelings.
He, like Che, Raul and many others, was by the side of Commandante Fidel Castro in one of the most heroic revolutionary struggles of the 20th Century which toppled the Batista dictatorship in 1959.
He was a strong pillar in the effort to break the shackles of exploitation in the tradition set by Bolivar, Marti, Antonio Maceo and other heroic figures of the revolution of the Americas. Comrade de Almeida contributed significantly to the Socialist reconstruction of Cuba which has expanded access to healthcare and education, improved national infrastructure and made the Cuban people masters of their own destiny.
