An Accra-Kumasi sprinter driver, Osei Yaw met his untimely death this afternoon while driving from Kumasi to Accra when he was knocked into a gutter by a vehicle overtaking an articulator.

A passenger in the vehicle told Adom News in an interview that the driver was hit by another vehicle which had overtaken an articulator.
The incident he said happened at Yaw Kwei in the Asante Akyem South District of the Ashanti Region.

“Most of the women in the vehicle demanded that the driver stops for them to urinate and he did at Yaw Kwei…when they were done urinating, he closed the passenger door behind them and just as he was about to enter into the driver’s seat, a vehicle from nowhere hit our car which was parked by the roadside…,” he told Virgin City's Samuel Ofori Amanfo.
According to the passenger, the impact the collision had on their vehicle made most of the passengers sustain various degrees of injuries.

“We did not even see the driver so after some minutes, everyone started looking for him and it was after some minutes of search that we realized that he had been hit and dragged into the gutter…and he was found dead…,” he added.
The injured passengers were taken to hospital while the body of the driver was conveyed to the mortuary.

A bookman from the station where the driver had been operating said they were saddened by the news of the death of their colleague since they expected him to be in Accra by evening.
