Jordan Ayew Issues Apology For West Ham Red Card

The Claret and Blue Army frontman says he’s sorry for letting the side down in Tuesday’s league fixture.

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew has apologised for Tuesday’s red card during his side’s 2-0 defeat against West Ham in the English Premier League.

The Ghana international was giving the marching orders for elbowing West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell in the 17th minute, before the home side scored two second half goals to wrap up victory.

“Looking back at my impulsive action last night, I sincerely apologise to the supporters of Aston Villa, my team mates and AVFC staff and my coach [Remi Garde],” Ayew wrote on his official Instagram account.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and I don’t wish to dwell on my mistake nut rather look forward to playing again to prove myself to be true [the] Claret and Blue as I have done from the moment I joined AVFC and I do not intend to slow down now.”

Ayew, 24, joined Villa last summer from French side Lorient and has so far netted five times in the Premier League.

He continued: “To my fans and everyone I offended, I ask that you join me in moving forward from this unfortunate situation as I continue to focus on my career and the success of the team.

“We fight till the end. Up the Villa!”

Villa boss Garde had lamented the striker’s conduct, calling the red card “stupid”.
