Fraud Alert: Land Commission Using Prez, IGP Names For Land Business?

Today’s investigations indicate that some unscrupulous officials in the  Greater Accra Regional Office of the Land Commission at the  Land Registration Division are using the names of President John Dramani Mahama and the acting  Inspector-General of Police (IGP,) Mr. John Kudalor to sell lands to unsuspecting  businessmen and women in some strategic locations in Accra.

This paper’s findings further revealed that, the officials of the Land Registration Division were into this criminal business  with a company called I-Sibie Company Limited owned by one Mr. Ibrahim Sibie aka Kalusha with the support  of also  one Saliki who claimed  the IGP is his cousin.

However, in an interview with Today on Thursday January 21, 2016, the IGP who spoke through the Director of Public Affairs of Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur denied the allegations, describing it as “criminal and fraudulent attitude” for those officials at Lands Commission to use the name of the President, let alone the IGP to defraud unsuspecting Ghanaians.

According to him, the IGP did not even know any worker at the Land Commission neither did he know the said  Mr. Ibrahim Sibie who claimed that he (IGP ) was part of their fraudulent deals.

Nevertheless, Superintendent Cephas Arthur promised to fish out for Mr. Ibrahim Sibie and those officials at the Commission for questioning.

He further assured Today that, he would task the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Ghana Police Service in- charge of property and  fraud to  immediately investigate the matter to ensure that, the suspects at the Land Commission are made to face   the full rigours of the law.

The senior police officer described those officials at the Land Commission as “crooks and nation wreckers,”  pointing out that, such fraudulent deals are not new to the police administration”.

For instance, he cited a situation where the former IGP, Mr. Mohammed  Alhassan also  became a victim of same land issue where some people used his name to dupe innocent people.

Mincing no words, superintendent Arthur, whiles cautioning the pubic to be careful of  such characters in society, he assured   Ghanaians that, the Ghana Police Service would continue to expose those criminal officials at the  Land Commission.

“I can tell you (referring to this reporter) we (police) will identify them and strike them out”, he said.
When this reporter called the telephone lines-0302-408700 / 244254806 of I-Sibie Company Limited on Thursday, January 21, 2016 to seek their clarification on the matter, a lady with a perky voice who  claimed to be the Secretary of the company  but refused to identify herself to this reporter answered the phone.

She told our  reporter  that, her managers were in a meeting, and that, they had asked her to take whatever information for them so that they could get back to him (reporter) after the meeting.

She went on to take the cell phone number of this reporter, with the explanation that, she would let her managers call him after the meeting.

But  after several hours of no call coming from their end, the reporter tried to call again, however this time around, the lady failed to answer the call.

The modus operadi of the Land Registration Division, Today learnt was that, the officials internationally delay original owners awaiting title to their lands and then change the documents and later sell   the same lands to  their favourite buyers for huge sums of dollars, using the original owner’s documents.

The latest operation of the Land registration division officials with their I-Sibie Company Limited, our investigations revealed was a plot of land, number 236, block 8, section 114 at extension 0.12 hectares (0.31 of an acre), more or less, situated at Bawaleshie/East Legon in Greater Accra region which  it had been sold  to a shipping magnet,  even though the said land had been  registered it since 2015.
