The Ghana international will spend close to a month in the treatment room following an injury setback.
Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah is set to spend up to 25 days on the sidelines due to injury, the club have confirmed.
The Ghanaian was replaced by Daniele Baselli in the 46th minute in the Maroons’ 2-2 stalemate with Sampdoria on Wednesday after picking up a knock, and medical checks have revealed that the Sunyani-born will spend close to a month in the treatment room.
“Acquah has undergone an MRI [Magnetic Resonance Imaging], which showed a lesion in the first adductor muscle of his left thigh,” his club’s official website announced.
“The prognosis of layoff is between 20 and 25 days.”
With 21 league appearances and a goal to his name this season, the midfielder is expected to sit out Sunday’s encounter with Chievo Verona as well as games with Palermo, Carpi and AC Milan.
Acquah joined Torino from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim on a four-year deal last summer, having earlier spent loan stints with Parma and Sampdoria after struggling for first team action in Germany.
He made 31 league appearances for Palermo in seasons 2011-12 and 2012-13 combined.
The 24-year-old boasts of 19 national caps and a goal for Ghana, and is expected to return in time for the Black Stars’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header with Mozambique in March.
