Abuakwa South Member of Parliament Samuel Atta Akyea has debunked media reports about his claims that the death of his colleague MP for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region Joseph Boakye Danquah is a "good omen" for the New Patriotic Party.

Hon. Atta Akyea was reported to have said that the loss of the MP is a "sign of great things to happen" and believed the NPP will strongly bounce back.

Earlier in an interview with Starr FM, Atta Akyea is reported to have said the murder of the Abuakwa North MP "will be a temporary setback, the resilience of our party, especially the flagbearer and everybody will tell you that this is a major lost; I don’t want to pretend that it is an ordinary event but give us a little time we will bounce back and find a befitting replacement and soldier on to victory in 2016.

“That is how great things also happen, when something very great is about to happen you see setbacks and reversals but at all times if you have sense of destiny and history you will have your energies back again."

But the legal luminary, who sought to clarify his comments in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, expressed shock at the report stating emphatically that "even if I’m an uncivilized villager, will I champion such a great loss and insinuate that we’re going to win the elections by the blood of a human being? I don’t understand it. I want them to play my voice for you all to listen…I haven’t said anything like that."

I never "said anything that the death of the man is a good omen. These words can never be mine. I’m not a toddler. I don’t know why somebody will use this thing as if we are going to use blood for the election. We’re going to win the elections because of the fact that this government is not good. We won’t use human blood to win elections.”
