Eazzy: Rebranding Has Been A Success

Since she parted ways with Richie’s Lynx Entertainment, Afro dancehall artiste, Eazzy has not really enjoyed the same amount of success like she did before.

After what seems like a period of trying to find herself and her place in the industry, she took a break to reassess her brand and her music career last year so she could come back stronger.

Now Eazzy has told Showbiz that the rebranding exercise has been a resounding success.

“I would say last year was definitely an upgrade over the previous year. Throughout the year, I can say I played over 23 separate shows and I had the opportunity to connect with the youth on the various campuses through the campus gigs I played. They are the people I consider my most hardcore fans,” she said.

“From my performances and the reception I received from my fans on songs like Burning Love, Kpakpo Shito, Go Go Wind, Ginger among others, I could tell that my music resounds with them,” she added.

Eazzy’s rebranding campaign is being spearheaded by her new management team, Debson Media.

“Rebranding has been a lot of work. Together with my management team we put together a plan of action on how I should look, the type of music I should make, my stage performances, how to stay out of controversy in order to protect the brand among other key areas.

“In order to stay relevant, it is important that you become selective about the events and stages you accept to perform on, you do not have to perform at every single event,” the Wengeze hit maker, said.

The sultry star also spoke on whether she would be endorsing any political party or candidate in the general elections set for November, just as some entertainers have done.

“I have stayed out of politics since I came into the limelight and I intend to keep it that way. Irrespective of who wins the elections in November, I believe we should all work together for a better Ghana.

“Even though I have not decided to endorse any political candidate yet, never say never.”

Eazzy also revealed that her Rangers album, which she is dedicating to her fans, is almost ready for release.

“This album is dedicated entirely to my fans who have supported me throughout the years. I have put in a lot of effort including collaborations with some Nigerian artistes such as Skales among others,” she said.

Real name Mildred Ashong, Eazzy developed her interest in entertainment during her Senior Secondary School days at, Mfantiman School in the Central Region. During a talent show, Eazzy took to the stage where she thrilled her colleagues with a performance of Ja Rule’s, It’s My Time.

Eazzy went to pursue further studies at the Institute of Professional Studies in Ghana and then joined the Chartered Institute of Marketing in England where she also studied French and Spanish. She graduated in November 11, 2008 with a post graduate certificate in marketing from (CIM-UK), Birmingham, England.

In 2009, Eazzy’s signed on to the Lynx Entertainment record label on which she released her maiden single, Bo Wonsem Ma Me which became an instant hit.

Her second single, Wengeze also went on to become an even bigger hit, cementing her status as a force to be reckoned with on the Ghanaian showbiz scene.

Eazzy released her maiden album titled Twinkle in 2010 and earned over 15 nominations including five in the 2011 Ghana Music Awards. She won Best Storyline Video of 2011 at the 4Syte Music Video Awards, for her song One Gal, which featured Richie.

In 2012, she represented Ghana at the Big Brother StarGame Reality Show together with her boyfriend, Keitta Osei, junior brother of hiplife maestro, Reggie Rockstone.

Later in the year, Eazzy parted ways with Lynx Entertainment, and for a short period of time was managed by Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) before parting ways with him as well.

Eazzy’s stage presence and her ability to combine singing with rapping and mastery of different music genres has propelled her to the forefront of the Ghanaian showbiz industry.

Some of the artistes she has worked with include, Donaeo, Sonni Balli, Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Richie, Kwaku T of Big Brother Africa fame, Kevin Beats, Tinny, E.L, Asem, Efya, Zigi among others.
