Minister appeals to teachers to uphold integrity of the profession

Mr. Joseph Amenorwode, the Volta Regional Minister, has appealed to teachers to always uphold and protect the integrity and sanctity of the teaching profession. He said the profession was a noble one which needed to be enviously guarded. Mr. Amenorwode, who is a teacher by profession, said this when he addressed parents, teachers and pupils during a tour of some schools to mark �My First Day at School� in the region. The day was instituted as part of the new education reforms to make it memorable, enjoyable and attractive for children to stay in school and also to sensitize parents on the need to send all children of school going age to school. The Regional Minister who was accompanied by Mr. Gabriel S. Kploanyi, Volta Regional Director of Education, visited schools in Sokode in the Ho Municipal Area, Anfoega Dzana, Kpando and Kpeve in the South Dayi District. Mr. Amenorwode said looking after children in school was a daunting one but the benefits were enormous and advised parents to invest their resources in their children. He appealed to them to the children to be humble and respect their teachers and parents and presented biscuits and fruit drinks to them. Mr. Kploanyi advised teachers to introduce new and innovative ways in teaching to make it interesting to help keep the children in school.
