Unemployment Is The Root Cause Of Violence In Yendi Naa Samata

The paramount queen of Dagbon Gundo Naa Samata Abudu said, unemployment has been the root cause of violence in Yendi.

"If you look at Dagbon, it is mostly because, most of youth are unemployed that is why youth always engaged in violence activities."

She made this pronouncement at Yendi in the northern region when Development and Unity Foundation (DUF) Ghana, None Governmental Organization (NGOs) Lead by Youth Chief of Dagbon, Boli Lana, Nurudeen Mahama Abdulai with his Korean Manager Wang Tae Yang paid a courtesy call on chiefs of the land.

“…this foundation…helps people to farm. We will provide tractors, good seeds, farming materials to farmers especially the youth. We want to create jobs for the youth to keep them busy from conflict and also provide them with cattle and sheep to reduce the poverty rate in the land" he said.

Speaking to peacefmonline.com, Nurudeen said "we need to support the youth in education to transform life in the years ahead."

Queen mother of Dagbon expressed her gratitude by saying"  farming has been our main occupation…it is when you have nothing doing that someone will get you involved in violence activities. It is clear that if the youth are occupied and busy in their work places, no one can then influence them to violence" she said.
