MPs Murder: Monitor Our Borders Sir John Tells Police

A former, General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has charged the security agencies to vigilantly guard the borders of the country to prevent the escape of anyone implicated in the murder of Abuakwa North MP, J.B Danquah Adu.

Applauding the police for a ‘good job’ done in arresting the alleged main suspect, Sir John, as he is affectionately called, said the arrest serves as a source of relief to the NPP.

The Police arrested the suspect on Thursday; two days after the murder of the MP at his residence at Shiashi in Accra Investigations in to the gruesome killing of the MP began on Tuesday morning, after his demise at dawn that same day.

Efforts to capture the suspect intensified after the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was asked to take over the investigations.

The Police earlier invited six persons for questioning after which they were all discharged except one, a security man.

Mr. Owusu Afriyie indicated that though the suspect has reportedly confessed to the dastardly act, it is important for the police to be on the lookout at the various borders for suspicious persons.

“Killing a breadwinner of a family is not an easy thing at all. I sympathize with the family, but it is important for the police and other security agencies to monitor our borders and our Airports because when it happens like that, those involved will try and escape” he said.
