Teacher Defiles JHS Student

A 31-year-old teacher at Breman-Asikuma Senior high School in the Central Region, Dominic Appiah was put before a Cape Coast Circuit Court ‘3’presided over by Sedina Agbemeva for defiling a 15-year old student of Breman Amoanda Catholic Junior High School.

Appiah who was charged with the offence of defilement pleaded not guilty and was remanded into prison custody to re-appear on February 24, 2016.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Peter Paul Amoah said the complainant in the case was Frank Eduah who lives at Breman Amoanda and he is the father of the victim.

Chief inspector Amoah stated that on February 7, 2016 at about 1pm the victim’s mother sent her to fetch water for her.

The Prosecutor told the court that the victim spent almost four hours without coming back home so the mother became suspicious and started looking for her but efforts to trace her failed.

He continued that at about 5:30 pm, the victim returned to the house and her mother who was eager to know where she had been all that while, interrogated her and the victim alleged that she had gone to visit the accused.

Chief Inspector Amoah added that the victim told her mother that on January 28, 2016 the accused invited her to his room at Breman Amoanda for a discussion where he offered her a drink in a glass suspected to be diluted and after drinking it she became weak and he forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecutor stated that the victim’s mother informed her husband who reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at Breman Asikuma and the accused was arrested.

Prosecution stated that a police medical report received from Dr. A. Amponsah of Our Lady of Grace hospital at Breman Asikuma indicates that the victim has been defiled.
