Ghana Muslim Mission Calls For Peace In Tafo

The Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM) has called on the people of Tafo and its environs to ensure that peace prevails in the community.

It called on all parties, the royals, the Ashanti’s and the Tafo Zongo Community to remain calm in order to ensure that peace prevails in the area.

In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, Signed by Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, the National Chairman GMM, said peace was a very important asset in the development of every nation.

It said in the absence of peace there was chaos, anarchy, killing, poverty, disease and backwardness, among other things.

“We can ensure peace when we have patience, which is also one of Allah’s attributes. We should learn to forgive each other in order to earn Allah’s blessings than begrudge each other and earn his curse,” it said.

The release said the disruption of the peace in Tafo should not be seen as a religious war. It is a community that is facing some challenges which all must help to solve.

“The Holy Quran tells us that if you stretch your hand to kill me, I shall not stretch my hand to slay you, for I fear Allah, the Cherisher of the worlds.

“The Quran again states that the servants of Allah are those who walk on the earth in humility and when the ignorant address them, they say, peace be on you,” it said.

According to the release, the Holy Quran goes ahead to say that “anyone who slays another, is seen to have slain the whole of mankind. And anyone who saves a soul, is seen to have saved the whole of mankind’.

It noted that the Ashanti’s and Zongo’s had always lived in peace and it was noteworthy that the Zongo’s had contributed immensely towards the development of the region over the years.

It prayed for Allah’s protection and guidance for the Omanhene of Tafo, his people including the royals, the Ashanti’s and the Tafo Zongo Community to find a lasting and amicable solution to the land issue.

The release again called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage in order not to inflame passions.
